Today I decided to be virtuous and buy some vegetarian chili for lunch. Ewwwwww. I should've known they'd throw in some TVP. What's up with this stuff, anyway? It has the texture of crumpled up bits of styrofoam cup (although it supposedly mimics the texture of ground beef). Why would vegetarians eat something that tries to mimic meat? Yeah, it's protein - but aren't there nicer ways to get your protein? And if you're into soy products, why not just eat tofu, instead of this TVP?
Are there any "gourmet" applications for this product?
