We'll be in Tuscany the last two weeks of August.
I know, I know.... The summer months in Italy are insane with tourists and terrible heat and October is sooooo much better, however this NYC teacher has no other choice :)
I haven't been to Tuscany since I was 15 and my husband and I got a great offer for a spa in Montecatini. We plan to rent a car and hit Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano (my father in law's absolute favorite Italian place..), Lucca, Cortona, and Siena in between all the mud packs and aqua massage. Truth is we'll probably just use the hotel to sleep in and spend our days traveling about.
I've been spending the last few periods of "Senior-Cut" day enjoying my non-existent class registers and surfing the site. I've looked through a bunch of old stuff and even checked out Jim Dixon's site. I guess I'm getting lazy and yearning for an ESSENTIAL TIP SHEET.
I call on the savvy ciaohounds to help me plan my nine days. What is the ONE essential culinary experience I should have on my trip? Your best Tuscan tip ever?
Also will ferragosto find us with eveything closed? All of the day? Part of the day? Won't be affected at all?
Any favorite Tuscan websites you'd reccomend?
