Turkey confusion

I've been searching the internet and I'm more confused than ever. Can anyone tell me how much salt and sugar and water to use to brine a 17 lb. turkey? Is there a certain ratio to follow? And the cooking times I've found vary so much -- from 3.5 hours to 5.5 hours!
