Tulsi- poor experience

pennylane17 | Feb 13, 201108:46 AM

Attempted to try Tulsi last night and had high expectations as we really enjoy Devi and have heard good things thus far. Unfortunately, it appears they are still working through issues with timing and bookings. We had an 8pm resey and we arrived by about 8:03pm to see the entire bar/lounge area filled with folks. The hostess was less than helpful and said, we're running behind, but a number of tables have their checks but won't leave. Judging by the impatient and full crowd up front, I asked if the delay would be in the range of an hour or if she could quantify it a bit-- if it was going to be in excess of 30 minutes, I would bag it and be willing to give a try on another night.

But, she said it shouldn't be too long, get a drink at the bar and hopefully should start moving. Unfortunately, 45 min later, the crowd was growing and heard the hostesses start calling folks with reservations to tell them not to come in. After $35 for 2 drinks and the hostess saying she still had no clue on when our table would be available, we finally bailed.

Was really bummed about the experience and know the early days can be less than smooth, but the hostesses were relatively rude about it, didn't provide any updates unless pressed and really would have gone a long way for the restaurant to throw a round of drinks towards the incovenienced crowd for good measure.

Really disappointing experience given the high hopes for the food, they burned my goodwill for now and will be hesitant to give them another shot. Hopefully they will get their act together as am sure the food is excellent given experiences at Devi, but for now, I'll take my business elsewhere...
