Tuesdays @ Rosamund

Michael Alderete | Aug 1, 200302:19 PM

I'm sure that many on this board miss the Tuesday hamburgers at Rosamund Sausage Grill (on Haight next to the Toronado) as much as I do. It turns out they have a new Tuesday special.

The Recession Special is two dogs with chili, kraut, or slaw, for $3.50. These are not their normal fat sausages, but rather more like the long thin dogs you see at some ballparks. And they are served in a regular hot dog bun, instead of the toasted roll used for the other sausages.

Which is not to say that they are not fabulous. The dogs are *not* just a standard hot dog, but rather a spicy beef sausage of some sort, high quality, like the rest of the stuff at Rosamund. Rochelle and I got two of the chili dogs on Tuesday, and they were wonderful. The plain hot dog bun is perfect for the spicy sausage and the chili, it doesn't get in the way, it's not too much bread.

Only one leaves you a little hungry (it's maybe 3/4 of a regular sausage there), but you get two for $3.50, and I suspect that's more than enough for all but the biggest appetites.

Tuesdays only, and these seem more staff-friendly than the hamburgers were, so I hope they'll be around for a while. I plan on eating at least one (I have to share with my wife) most Tuesdays from now on.
