New to this board. Recently returned to the Chicago area after living 8 years in southern AZ. Wondering if other Chowhounds can suggest places to get simple, solid, non-cutesy, mexican chow a la the many great restaurants in Tucson (most are on Tucson's south side). Also lived in Globe, AZ for a while, but the "mexican" food there seems to hail from a different region of Mexico. Partial to carne asada, chicken or pork enchiladas with loads of cheese, lovingly-prepared huevos rancheros -- not the half-vast (intentionally misspelled) huevos sold at many local fern bar restaurants -- and decent, tangy-sweet margaritas with plenty of lime. Please, NONE of those frozen restaurant "margs" that taste like a weak slurpy and NONE of that awful dried, shredded (cardboard) beef or pork - if I wanted a slim jim past its "brewed-on" date, I'd have gone to 7/11.
