Tsingtao Taste is tucked away in the Smart and Final mall at the corner of Mary and Fremont in Sunnyvale. We live close by yet I never knew there was a previous Chinese restaurant at this location; it's to the right of Smart and Final and you can't see it from the street. Fortunately they advertise so we found out about them and tried them out for the first time tonight.
As I mentioned in the fish dumplings post, these were the best fish dumplings I've had in my limited experience. A great combination of fish, chives, and other flavorings, served with a dipping sauce that seemed to include some very good vinegar. One of the best Chinese dishes of the year!
Since there were just two of us it was hard to choose with so many good-looking options on the menu and at other people's tables. We went with a seafood tofu clay pot that was very good. There are no alcoholic beverages, but the fresh watermelon juice was a real winner!
I must go back soon to try out more of their Shandong specialties, hopefully with more people so I can try more things! Too many local places in this or similar styles use too much MSG for my tastes; I didn't taste any here. There's just one menu that lists everything in both Chinese and English, which is another pleasant change from some other local places.
Has anybody else been here yet? What do you think?
