While it's true I do not go for alcoholic beverages, I certainly don't mind if others do. But when I read about how much some folks drink, I begin to wonder at what point the alcohol is impairing their discernment of the food.
I think there are two issues with this.
Of course, there is the question of their ability to perceive and appreciate flavors due to the alcohol. Just as importantly, the alcohol might cover up mediocre food.
Then there is the question if the good time you are having is mostly due to the alcohol, and not the food.
i wonder how food critics approach this problem?
