Truffles at Giorgio Baldi

Well I was glad to see that Larry enjoyed his meal at Vincenti, a place where I have not been lucky. I did say in a previous posting that I would go to Vincenti for truffles, which I still hope to do if the market rebounds at all. However I went to Ristorante Giorgio Baldi in the Palisades the other night for a truffle meal, and now wonder if I will ever eat any other Italian in L.A. It was a really special meal starting off with lightly fried porcini with a piece of Pecorino, which was perfect. The carpaccio with truffle oil was a success but not as good as my girlfriend's panzarelle stuffed with ricotta and topped with a porcini tomato sauce. The finishing touch was a light but perfectly cooked risotto with very generous white truffles. I had never been here before, so I don't know how consistent they are, but if you only have white truffles once this year, or if you've never tried them, this would be a great place to eat. The restaurant was packed though we were seated right away with a reservation (which seems to be a rare treat these days)
