Tropicalia Brazilian in Los Feliz

lil mikey | May 20, 200607:45 PM

I’ve read several bad posts here, but we just had a pretty good lunch at Tropicalia in Los Feliz.

The Brazilia salad was fresh and tasty. I got it with the grilled shrimp, which were modest in size, but tasty. I’m a big fan of hearts of palm, and they weren’t stingy with these. The cashews added a nice crunch, and the dressing was tart and slightly creamy. They also put some plantains around the side which added a nice sweetness.

We also got a dish of char-grilled beef smothered with red sauce, accompanied by a tangy green sauce and some sort of grain. It was really tasty. It came with rice and black beans.

These two dishes went well together, and we shared them. It was plenty of food for two.

It's not fine dining, but it's also priced very reasonably. The above, with a capuccino and a Brazilian soda was $30 before tip.
