Trip to SF in January, looking for Sushi, Italian, Tapas Bars

My boyfriend and I will be in SF for the first time the first weekend in January and are looking for a range of different places to eat at. We will be staying at the Best Western Hotel California at 580 Geary st. and have a car for the weekend portion of the trip. We are looking for some very affordable places to eat for breakfast lunch and dinner for most of the meals ($5-15 per entree) but are also looking forward to trying some nicer places for a few special lunches and dinners (up to $25-30 only). We both really enjoy tapas bars and sushi places with authentic and/or fusion cuisine, especially tuna, crab, and shrimp dishes, and love any seared ahi tuna!! Also my favorite type of cuisine is Italian and I've been looking around online for a really good restaurant to try and am interested in going to Poggio Trattoria. Is this an authentic pick or does anyone have any better picks? we're willing to travel around a bit if the place is really worth seeing as how Poggio isn't really in the same neighborhood as our hotel. Finally interested in a few bars in the area of our hotel for a fun unique atmostphere. We are drinkers of wine, liquor and beer so just a few reasonably priced favorites in any category would be great! Thanks.
