Just back from 4 days in NOLA, here goes:
Saturday night at Brigstens: Decided to take the streetcar for fun, ended up 1/2 hr late but they were running late anyway. Had the bisque and BBQ shrimp for apps, Seafood platter for both of us followed by pecan pie and bread pudding. Yum! Service was excellent and no complaints about the food. Seafood platter was a good combination of different fish and sauces.
Upperline: Both of us had the taste of NO. Good variety, portions on the small side but nice atmosphere and service. Would definitely go back.
Bon-Ton: Had lunch there, Crab Au Gratin and Redfish. Probobly the best meal we had, great service and delicious rum drinks.
Jacque-Imo's: Arrived about 7:30 on a Monday, only waited about 40 minutes. Had the cheesecake at the bar while waiting and got into some interesting conversations. I had the panneed rabbit, wife had Godzilla meets Fried Green Tomatoes. Most fun atmosphere, food a little too fried for my tastes but nevertherless excellent.
Dick and Jenny's: waited about 20 minutes to be seated, cocktail waitress too slow to even get us a drink. I had the bronzed redfish which was one of the best dishes I had all week. Very inexpensive, good value.
Also had some black ham bisquits at Mother's for breakfast and took home one of their ham's.
Excellent eats all week and spent much less than on our last trip when we had tasting menus at Emeril's and Grill room.
Thanks for all of your recommendations!
