Trip Report, Stop 3: CRAZY JIM'S / PHX

Tha Groovin' Gourmet | May 25, 2006 01:16 PM

While the primary reason for our trip to Phoenix was to pick up Denise's birthday puppy (literally a chowhound as it turns out), it coincided with the Blondie/New Cars concert and a couple of Braves/Dbacks games.

We arrived on Wednesday, the night of the concert, and made our way downtown for the show at the Dodge Theater.

In the mood for a pre-show drink or 2, Denise noticed the counter and bar at Crazy Jim's as we made the turn for the parking garage.

We stepped inside, grabbed a couple of stools, and ordered cocktails. I asked to peruse a menu, and was pleased to see a considerable selection of typical Greek diner dishes.

I went with the Horiatiki Salad. Shredded cabbage, adorned with chunks of really nice feta, a handful of kalamata olives along with chunks of tomato and cucumber slices. Dressed in a nice vinaigrette, the plate was garnished with several good pepperoncinis.

Deelish and refreshing, and the owner is indeed Jim and also crazy. Had a nice chat with him when we found out he was in the biz in Salt Lake before moving to PHX.

Definitely worth a shot if you need a quick bite or drinkies in that part of town.
