Trip report to Singapore, Korea and Indonesia

***SINGAPORE
Only had a full day and two nights

Suntec Mall: biggest food court I ever seen that probably had all the local dishes that SGP had to offer in the comfort of ac.
-Padang food near the entrance of the food court had great rendang beef and mutton. Large varieties, not to be missed.
-Awesome Teo Chew noodle soup. The noodles where white in the shape of a bean sprout. It includes sui kauw/large wonton, great soup.
-Many interesting restaurants near the fountain but I did not have time to explore. This is a food paradise folks ! Forget the hawker center (hot) and just concentrate here.
-Buffet near the entrance to the mall had all kinds of local dishes. If I just had one meal in SGP, I probably go to this buffet.
-There is a Kopi Tiam branch here: great kaya toast

Kopi Tiam near Rendezvous Hotel:
-Great Hainam chicken rice: boneless perfect chicken pieces. Great rice and chilli sauce. Perfection !!
-Noodles are also good

TAKASHIMAYA food court is tiny compared to SuntecMall food court. The sticky rice is not that good. Actually I did not find the char kwee tiauw to be good either.

CHANGI airport 3rd floor had local dishes: great char kwee tiauw and good hokkian mee.

*****INDONESIA: stayed in Jakarta mostly

-Padang food in Juanda road had ac and pretty good food. Will not tolerate non ac place for padang food, too hot !
-Roast pork rice combo is perfect in Glodok area but dirty place. Just order to go and ask someone to buy and take it home/to hotel
-Claypot rice is still good in Glodok
-Guo tie must be eaten at the restaurant or lose its juiciness. Pasar Baru location is so-so, the 5 spiced beef not that great there. Must try Pondok Santung in Gajah Mada
-Puncak area: Padang sati in cipanas had declined. Alam Indah near puncak pass has great location for "lesehan". Great lamb satay, and other traditional Sundanese food. Avoid the grilled fish.
-Bogor permai: great dutch style steak, egg fu yung, nanking chicken. Not to be missed !
-Medan style noodle soup (Bin Jai) in Hayam Wuruk had declined
-Gajah Mada noodle soup (special) is still as good as ever. Great fried wonton, best in the world?
-Borobudur oxtail soup had declined. Buffet is allright
-Angke has great lindung cah (mud fish?) and fish.
-Yun Nyan still has excellent steamed shrimps with the unique chilli sauce. Not to be missed !
-Buy lots of finger foods like the flour coated peanuts (brownish colour), etc
-The Ice Campur: shaved ice with many ingredients like jellies were not as good this time around.
-Fresh squeezed orange is a must and many places does it well
-Dimsum: forget it, US is much better and expensive !
-Martabak sweet cheese and also the meat filled variety are still great, Pecenongan location
-Satays from the push carts are awesome as ever
-Rambutan (rafia), manggis, and mangoes are great this time of year (December).

****KOREA (Incheon): stayed at SKY hotel with free shuttle for like $70 at Christmas. It was empty mostly.
Good BBQ restaurant accross the street with panchans never seen in USA. Good price
There was a small mom and pop place 3 blocks away that had excellent set meal. Great spicy pork, beef, kimchi soup and excellent/unusual panchans. Korea is worth it for the food and good area to explore.
