Arrived on Friday August 18th and went straight to Brophys. As usual, there was a 45 minute wait to get a table but when we did, we got a nice table outside. As usual, I ordered the beer boiled shrimp with a cup of clam chowder, while my date ordered the cioppino. The beer boiled shrimp was served with a dipping ausce full of horseradish. Great stuff! The clam chowder was very good. I tasted my GFs cioppino and thought it was pretty good, lots of mussels oysters and chunks of fish.
On Saturday night, we went to Itsuki , a little hole in the wall Japanese restaurant located near the Samsung Medical Clinic. I've been eating here since the late 80s and love this place. This is a real home style Japanese dinner with great stuff. I got so addicted to the Katsu Donburi that I would get take-out a couple times a week for a while. This time I had Salmon in Sake sauce. Very good. I almost ordered the Katsu Donburi out of habit but decided to try something else. My date had the sushi combination which she liked a lot. Dinner for two came to $40, with tip. They have a extensive selection of sake on the wall.
Besides these two places, we has the "Good Morning Breakfast at Andersen's one morning. With this breakfast you get bread, scones,a pastry, pate, butter ,orange marmalade, two creamy scrambled eggs, one strip of lean bacon, a slice of ham, a slice of cheese (not sure what kind, tasted mild), stewed apples w/ bits of bacon, and two thin slices of canteloupe. Very filling, $9.95 a portion. I remember when it was $4.95. This is a breakfast you have to walk off. Their coffee is a also very good.
