I went to New Orleans March 12-18 with a one day detour to Biloxi. During the trip I went to Rocky & Carlo's (Love that macoroni and cheese), Arnaud's for Sunday Brunch, Detrel's Diner and Truck Stop, Sid Mar's, Mary Mahoney's in Biloxi, Luizza's, Olivier's, and Galetroire's or however You spell it.
I enjoyed every place. Arnaud's Sunday Brunch was better than the two brunches I have been to at Comander's Palace although I like Commander's. Olivier's was pretty good except they prepared the rabbit differently than I expected. It was decent though. Detrel's, which used to be Poppy's I believe, had good omelets. Sid Mar's was a nice break from the French Quarter and had good fried seafood. Mary Mahoney's was expensive but is a neat place to eat at. I went at 4:00 p.m. I had crab and shrimp au gratin that was delicious.I went there on a Monday and was the only person eating at that time. Luizza's reminded me of Mandina's. I enjoyed both places. I have been to Galetroire's twice now and think their fish dishes are the best I have ever experienced. Reynard was a great waiter. Overall, it was a good eating trip. I also saw the Italian St. Joseph's Day Parade on Saturday and the St. Patrick's Day Parade on Wednesday. Both fun. I hope to get back to New Orleans again soon.
