Trip Report - Limon, Jeanty at Jack's, Ella's

Had a fun, fun trip to SF. Had some good food as well. Will apologize upfront for improper naming and wording as my mind is preoccupied and not completely here at the moment.

We were going to go to Universal Cafe for brunch but too many ppl so we ended up at Limon for lunch. They only had a dinner menu, so a few of us weren't ready for the meal. I was going to order the foie gras but that isn't available until after 5pm. So we had the grilled shrimps which were really light and very fresh with great flavor - best dish I had. empanadas (which i don't particularly like mexican food, so I didn't care for that dish) and also a cold mashed potatoes and crab dish - which tasted pretty good but a little like mashed potato leftovers from the night before because it was cold. The drink we had chicha something was really refreshing and yummy. Overall I think this would have been a great place for dinner, but it was a little too heavy for our first meal, lunch. hehe.

For dinner we went to Jeanty at Jack's. It is such a cute restaurant and had really nice food. We started off with the tomato soup with the popover thing (the name escapes me at the moment). That was delicious and filling. The top was like a croissant top. We also had the foie gras with the some pear cooked in alcohol. The foie gras was good, but it tasted like something I could have bought at a supermarket and spread on bread. Wasn't as blown away by it as I thought I could have. For the entree, my friend and I shared the steak and frites which were really good. I tried a bite of pork which was very tasty as well. My friend said her sole was only ok but the kobe beef someone else has was simply divine. For dessert we had the chocolate mousee creme brulee which was good, but only the top layer was chocolate so we were a lil disappointed but it was still very yummy.

Ella's - a nice brunch place, had a great ginger orange something juice - very refreshing and chicken hash with eggs. the chicken was good but had more potatoes than i would have expected. also had the coffe cake and sticky bun which were ok.

All in all, lots of yummy food and great weather. =) Friends had gelato at tango gelato near fillmore which they loved.
