We had a short visit to LV after many years and were looking forward to some excellent dining. Overall decent eats with the only standout being Lotus of Siam. It was worth the $60 in taxis to and from the strip. We ate at...
Mesa Grill brunch: DH enjoyed his chilaquiles, my egg dish was beyond boring. Bloody marys were also a bore. Bread basket was decent but most items were to sweet to go with our savoury dishes.
Carnevino: Had mixed feeling about our dinner here. Everything was "good", well prepared just missing something. We shared a very well seasoned and balanced carne cruda, porcini tagliatelle (lots of garlic but lacked mushroom intensity) and a bone in rib eye. The steak was perfectly cooked and had a lovely char on the outside but the meat itself was lacking in flavour. Had a chuckle about the table side drizzle of california ranch olive oil (label removed) as they described its finish with fine tuscan oil. We had to request extra salt. Sommelier was very nice and helpful in finding an interesting but reasonable wine from an unreasonable list.
Julian Serrano: Our most disappointing meal. Ordered a few tapas to start and decided not to order more food. Bland, greasy sliders, decent white anchovies. Pan con tomate was a comically bad untoasted white bun with a blob of tomato.
Comme Ca: Well made cocktails. Very good burger and excellent beef tartare. Only dislike was the brandade de morue which was bland and a very small portion.
Lotus of Siam: We had larb, crab fried rice, garlic prawns and soup. Wished we were with more people to try more. Favorites were the rice and larb (southern style with pork).
