Stayed at the Golden Nugget downtown so there were plenty of restaurants within walking distance. We started with restaurants in the hotel:
Claim Jumper; good solid breakfast. The only issue was that the eggs Benedict had eggs that were close to hard boiled. Still tasted good though.
Grotto; nice quiet area away from the smokey casino. Stuffed mushrooms with cheese were fabulous. Nice undertone of Gorgonzola. We ordered these on 3 different occasions. The bread is fabulous, crusty, chewey and warm. Pizzas had a cracker like crust which was nice for a light bite. The meatballs were a miss, too dry.
Cadillac Mexican Kitchen. Good spot for appetizers and drinks. Sit back on the comfy couches and enjoy some sangria along with Mexican street snacks
Chart House. Lovely atmosphere with the huge aquarium and creative cocktails. Somewhat of a miss with the food. Could have been bad ordering though as I enjoy Maine lobster here at home and that is definitely not what was in this dish. DC loved his short ribs
Lillie's Asian Cuisine was another nice stop for drinks and appetizers. Chinese food similar to Boston style Chinese
Our 2 favorite experiences were also downtown but not at the Golden Nugget
Andiamo's at the D; Old school fine dining in a relaxed setting. Casual was okay. Basket of house made bread served with a roasted olive, eggplant and tomato that was rendered down. Amuse of pasta and tomato sauce followed with a tenderloin steak cooked to perfection and a dish of their signature zip sauce on the side. I prefer my steak plain but did give the sauce a try and it was excellent. DC had the short rib in creamy polenta and he devoured it
Glutton; we stopped for lunch after visiting the container park. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The roasted chicken salad on multigrain topped with tomato and bacon hit all the right notes with the crunchy bacon and creamy mayo and roasted chicken. The bread was studded with cranberry.
