trip to london & paris

reese | Feb 12, 200405:43 PM

hi there - i am so grateful in advance for the expertise of fellow CH posters! i'll be in london and paris in march. in london on business (staying basically at paddington station) for 2 weeks then playing in paris for 4 nights, then back in london for the weekend.

we're looking for the range - cheap/easy to 'oh my gosh we're in london!/paris!' meals - here's the catch - my french is very limited and we don't eat meat (yes to fish though)

i'd love advice on the following:

*indian - i've peeked on this and the other board and i've seen some high-end recommendations - which i'm happy to b-f has heard of a street (in north london?)that was 'restaurant row' - is that true? still a good bet? i'd be very interested to try southern indian food and i'd weep for a dal mahkani that approached chicago quality. (i'd like to eat a lot of indian!)

*any lunch recommendations in slough? (besides pretend i'm on "the office?") :)

*i'll be returning to london around 8pm every night and as i mentioned - our hotel is in hyde park. any suggestions tube-convenient or close by?

*any suggestions in paris w/b most appreciated. i was there years ago and plan to eat middle eastern food again as it was fabulous. i also saw someone suggest "fish" - that is obviously right up my alley so i'll see if i can get us a booking there - i think we'll stay in the marais if we can afford it...where should we have coffee and pastry?

thank you!!
