My husband and I will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary with a trip to DC, arriving Saturday evening, leaving Monday afternoon. While we'd love to shoot the moon in terms of extravagance, it's just not in the cards this year (one kid going off to college and practically everything in our 18 year old house going up at once). So, we'd like to find options that don't exceed mid-range in terms of cost, but still offer a fantastic experience. It seems that Thip Khao should definitely be on the list, but beyond that, I have to admit I'm a bit overwhelmed by the range of choices.
We like places that are casual, creative, and have a great energetic vibe. If any of you have been to Peter's Inn in Baltimore, that's a great example of our type of place. We like almost every type of cuisine (except maybe Indian), consider ourselves adventurous and are willing to make a meal out grazing at several different spots. Great cocktails and a decent wine list are most certainly priorities as well.
We'll be staying in DuPont Circle and will either take the metro or taxis to our destinations. Any recommendations for brunch/lunch/dinner, even after-dinner drinks, will be welcome and greatly appreciated. Thank you!
