Tribeca is noted for its fine dining and interesting restaurants. I've come to realize that it is also a great neighborhood to get terrific hamburgers. You can have a burger every day of the week in a different restaurant. Here are some of the places that have really good burgers in Tribeca: ( in no order)
-Walker's: probably the most famed to "locals" for its burgers. They are among the best in the city.
-Cornerstone Grill: tiny place, with maybe 2 seats, and another 4seats outside. Great to eat on the run or take out, the burgers are very good. So is their bbq.
-Edward's : they make good burgers
-Odeon: Nice atmosphere, burgers are good.
-Le Petit Abeille: Excellent burgers, good beer choices, good fries.
-The Harrison: good lunch burger on an english muffin and special sauce
-Ivy's: comfortable restaurant, A very good 1/2 lb. burger on a twisted egg roll, comes with salad and fries.
-Tribeca Tap Room: a decent burger, it's a very loud place
-Cercle Rouge: a good burger , with french speaking wait staff.
-Benvenuto: busy lunchtime, but empty later in the evening, the NewYorker Burger I really like.
-Capsouto Freres: They do a nice burger made with chuck and short rib on brioche bun, nice location
-City Hall: they have a special burger using Pat La Freida's meat,a blend of brisket and shortrib served on an onion roll. The most comfortable seating in Tribeca
-Jerry's: it's the same Jerry's that used to be in SoHo. Their California Burger (guacamole, jalapeno, cheddar and arugula) is real good.
-Kitchenette: they have a good variety of burgers. garlic fries too.
-Tribeca Grill: Makes a good burger, nice place.
-Plein Sud: It's a new chef , so i'm not sure if they still make the delicious Burger Royale, Black Angus with white cheddar in the centre, topped truffle aioli, on a brioche bun.
that;s the good burgers
there are many others, including diner burgers like Gee Whiz and Square diner , i may as well throw in Shake Shack.
I was disappointed tonite when I went out for a burger, and discovered that Wolfgang's doesn't have burgers. I thought for sure they would since Peter Luger's has great burgers. Oh well, Ivy's worked out just fine.
So, if you are in the mood for a burger Tribeca is Burger Heaven. It all started years ago when Hamburger Harry's was on Chambers St.
