trente-cinq review, your opinions?

I went to Trente-Cinq on Friday night for dinner. I was really excited by the buzz that it had already generated and was expecting something great, so I was disappointed when the experience turned out to be mediocre.
First the decor... it was a good effort, the tables, place settings and wall colors were modern and funky but I was distracted by the unsightly wait station that spread across one wall open for all to see. They also could have arranged the tables in the middle of the room a bit better as they left some gaping holes that made the place feel empty. There was also something unsettling about the track lighting in the center of the room, it was altogether too bright and killed the cosy atmosphere.
I looked over the menu trying to decide what I fancied before ordering wine, everything sounded really good which was a good sign. Then I looked at the wine list, what a disappointment!! Only 3 white's to choose from and the red selection was a bit dismal too.
For an appetizer we shared the Shrimp Croquettes.. they were really tasty with lots of lemon juice and fried parsley. For the main course I had the Waterzooi, a fish soupy thing... tons of fish (salmon, haddock, mussels, scallops, shrimp) in a saffron cream sauce but it was BLAND. I squeezed a ton of lemon on it and added salt still to no avail... My boyfriend had the Beef stew (carbonade Flamande) which was much tastier. Tender chunks of beef stewed with apples and prunes was rich and hearty.
The dessert menu seemed unimaginative, we tried the chocolate mousse which was average.
The service was well intended but I found it overbearing, the waitress couldn't leave us alone and even tried to sell us on another restaurant she worked the lunch shift at, which seemed tacky.
Overall I was disappointed. I'd like to know if anyone else has been and had better luck. It has so much potential but falls short.
