Trendy Tapas Trend

Within the past couple of years, there has been a sprouting of restaurants in our area that specialize in a different style of food preparation and presentation. Some restaurants describe this style as "tapas."

What this appears to be is a series of appetizer sized preparations served on small plates, sort of like miniature entrees, mostly priced in the range from $5 to $10 dollars.

From my observation, what people do at these restaurants is order three or more of these small plates, until they have eaten enough food to be equivalent to a more traditional appetizer, entree, etc.

I've eaten at three of these places during the past year and have found the dining experience to be "different." However, I still much prefer a more traditional dining experience. A soup and / or appetizer. An entree.

In other words, this style of dining doesn't really turn me on that much.

Have any of you noticed this dining trend in your area?
