Having traveled throughout the Ironbound, I've compiled a list of nearly every restaurant/cafe/bakery in Newark.
I've been to many of the Portuguese and Brazilian spots, with a few of my favorite tips below. There are also around 20 Ecuadorian spots, several Peruvian, a few Cuban, Dominican, Salvadoran, Puerto Rican, etc that I've yet to fully explore.
My favorite Newark spots:
Cordobesas - Argentine oven-baked empanadas, amazing chimichurri
Tradiçao Cafe & Restaurant - amazing Brazilian lunch specials, a bobo de camarao that blew my mind
SZ Cafe (Marmitaria Saudavel) - Healthy meal plan Brazilian meals that are extremely quality, as well as traditional meals
Canela Bakery - best pastel de nata
Churrascaria Touro Manso - great Brazilian skewers by individual order
Cafe Avenida - Great Delta espresso pour, solid home-style typical Portuguese dishes
O Preguinho - great bifanas/pregos
Bread of Life Pao da Vida Bakery - great Brazilian sweets, wonderful quimdim
Busy Bee - Brazilian in-house roasted coffee, great pao de quiejo and baked goods
Gio Docinhos - designer brigadeiros and cakes
El Rey del Chacarero - in Port Newark, delicious Chilean Chacarero
Princesa Bakery - solid Portuguese bakery
Brazilian Buffet - solid quilo buffet (no churrasqueria)
