Tre Las Vegas

OK, Barb...where's your post? Before I forget about our fabulous meal last week, I have to share our experience at Tre.

It is a beautiful stand-alone building on the Northwest end of town (although the view consists of the PF Changs across the street). Velvet banquettes with cushy pillows, stunning lighting fixtures and a just an overall kind of Mediterranean/Middle East ambience.

We were started with a bread basket with three types of breads...the most memorable was a crispy flatbread. They also offered a trio of dips...a hummus, a rich tapenade and a puree of sun dried tomatoes...mmmm....tapenade....

We decided to split the salmon carpaccio...what a delight. It arrived as as beautiful little mound of pinkness that when dismantled revealed a salad of marinated farro (similar to barley) and baby greens. An inspired combination of textures and flavors. Such a lovely start.

My halibut was perfect...grilled to a light crispiness on the outside and meltingly tender within. It was accompanied by a combination of garlic mashed potatoes mixed with spinach and molded...swoon. One friend had a risotto (crab, I think), and I already forgot what Barb had (it's hell getting old...)

We finished off with a bananas foster prepared tableside by the utterly charming sommelier (who also recommended a great bottle of Pinot Grigio). Dessert was rich and spicy and deliciously decadent (apple pie with an orgasm?)...and served in a stemmed glass that was a piece of artwork.

Split three ways, the check came to $72 each, which included a generous tip (the service was wonderful). It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time in Las Vegas. Highly recommended.

PS Even the bathrooms were gorgeous :-)
