Oh why, oh why, haven't I gone to this place earlier? What a fantastic place! Upon some consultation, I asked the chef/owner to prepare a mini tasting menu consisting of rigatoni alla norcina (ground Italian sausage, mascarpone cream), gnocchi w/ walnuts & gorgonzola, and the tripe dish. Although the tripe dish is only on the dinner menu, the chef agreed to prepare it for lunch. The food was superb. The gnocchi were fluffy in a wonderful creamy sauce with delicate hints of gorgonzola. What blew my mind, however, was the tripe dish. The tripe was succulent, served in a delicious and well-seasoned sauce on good quality bread, which was toasted on an open fire. Wow! This might be blasphemy, but that tripe was better than the version my mom makes!
The waiter and the chef/owner were very accomodating and it was pleasant to chat with them. They both spoke fluent italian, which certainly added to the atmosphere of the place. They also apparently cannot do arithmetic ;-) I will definately be back.
This might be the best Italian restaurant in Boston. Thanks guys for bringing this place to my attention!
