Trattoria Contadina

With some out of town guests last night, I ate at this restaurant in North Beach. Trouble brewed immediately when despite our having made reservations, we found the restaurant packed and with no 'reserved' table waiting our arrival. We waited 30 minutes.

Having waited and sat down at a table, we found the waiter slow to take our order. Patience was waning.

We ordered. I had a nice plate of ravioli - light cream sauce. However, my fiancee ordered a penne with eggplant which turned out to be overly greasy, the eggplant having become mushy with oil. The others seemed to like their dishes ok.

I - as a lover of italian food - am looking for a place that might prove more worthy of our attention (and money!). Any suggestions for really excellent, nay life-changing, italian food?
