Transporting Smoked Meat

I will be in Montreal for one night next week. Whenever I am in town, I like to stop into Schwartz for a smoked meat sandwich. However, I will not have the time during this visit, and was thinking of stopping in either late morning or on the way to the airport and picking up a side of meat. I could then steam it at home and make a couple of sandwiches.

My questions: Will Schwartz (or even the Main across the street) sell me a slab of meat? I am thinking of a couple of pounds. Will they wrap it up for me in something so I can transport it? Or should I bring something for the voyage. I have a small nylon cooler I am thinking of bringing for the meat. Has anyone tried this?
