Traditional Italian Food on the Peninsula

I've been jonesing for some traditional Italian food -- what I think of as The Real Stuff -- but I don't know where to go in my 'hood. Are there any traditional Italian restaurants in or around San Mateo?

I'm talking spaghetti and big juicy meatballs and chicken cacciatore, NOT housemade Angel Hair Pasta with artichoke hearts in truffled cream sauce. Not that there's anything wrong with the latter, but it's not what I want.

IOW, I'm not looking for a recommendation to go to Capellini's, even though it's near my house. It's not bad, but it's California-ized Cuisine, not what I think of when I think "real Italian food."

It doesn't have to have red checkered tablecloths and opera on the stereo and chianti bottles on the table, but it does have to have good lasagna. Capiche?
