traditional balsamic vinegar

too much in tribeca | Jan 4, 2003 01:05 PM

wondering where i can find some high quality, reasonably priced balsamic vinegar that i don't need to reduce with heat to get good flavor and texture...i understand that the really pricy ones (which are permitted to designate themselves as "traditional") are aged 25+ years and can cost $100+ for a 250ml bottle, but is there a good brand (please be specific) in the $20 range that someone can recommend?

also looking for a good brand of olive oil. gigino's in tribeca serves La Goccia del Re, which tastes great when I'm there, but I recently bought a bottle and it was ok, but not as fresh and bright as what I'm looking for.
