All this talk of truffles on the SF board has me longing for truffle oil. Called my local TJ's (Capitola, CA) and they said that they currently sell black and white truffle oils for $8.99 (not sure exactly of the size). I've only used white (not TJ's brand) before to drizzle on pasta, pizza, soup, etc. and have NEVER had the glory of eating a real truffle.
So...what's the flavor difference btwn. black vs. white truffle oil? Can you use them interchangeably? Has anyone tried the TJ's brand? Thanks.
