we braved the hype...
great food. white asparagus soup with dungeness crabmeat was outstanding -- the white asparagus was mildly flavored, didn't overwhelm sweet crabmeat, in generous lumps.
cedar planked salmon with fennel, shoestring potatoes and sherry vinegar aioli was rich. big piece of salmon, ever-so-slightly rare, the fennel was shaved paper thin and had lovely flavor, the sauce was not too vinegary for wine. Personally I LOVE french fries, but not that thin -- they are more like potato chips, plus they get cold fast. but I'm just as happy not to have to eat the fries!!
slow roasted duck with toasted wild rice, pecans and gingersnap gravy -- duck was tender and rice was perfectly cooked, sauce was a little on the sweet side which made it tricky with wine.
wine list was OK but not great. we had a Panther Creek pinot, price average.
I liked the space a lot -- but it's noisy, more of a "fun bistro" thing rather than a "quiet romantic" thing.
curious to see what other hounds think!!
