Town Hall

We had dinner at Town Hall last night. I know, that place gets dissed a lot on this board but I've really never been disappointed there I guess because I know what to expect. The patio, bar and community table were all jumpin', very busy. Yes, the place was noisy, it usually is. Yes, it was hustle, bustle, it usually is. All of this points to it being very successful which it is. We don't go there to have a "romantic" dinner. In fact, we enjoy the atmosphere. We sat at a two-top along the wall. We've met some really fun people sitting there, end up comparing meals, wine, dessert.

I've also heard complaints about reservations. We've eaten there half a dozen times and have never waited and we almost always have had a 7:00 res on Friday, last night was no exception, seated as soon as we arrived.

I won't go through the complete dinner but the menu has changed since we were last there. My wife had the pork chop which was peanut and andoulle sausage coated on a bed of fulffy mashed potatoes. It was a huge chop but she didn't leave a whole lot of it. I had the bacon wrapped Wolf Farm quail on a bed of cheesy grits, very yummy. The quail was done to perfection, very moist and juicy. Plus, they used a mildly smoked bacon that didn't overwhelm the quail.

Both first courses were new (anyone since we were last there) and both were very good. As always, ordered the jalapeno cornsticks, good as always although I would like a little more jalapeno in them. No dessert last night, both too full.

Overall, an enjoyable evening and we will return.
