After hearing the name several thousand times, I went to TH when I was in town a couple of weeks ago. I'm still shaking my head.
Perhaps I misordered. To start, I had a half-dozen oysters. Seemed simple enough but the mignonette they were served with was *so* sour, I ate the last 5 sans sauce -- the acid completely overwhelmed the shallots, the oysters -- threatened to eat-through the ramekin! For an entree I had a bird's nest concoction that seemed to completely lack any focus...as if they had started with an idea and continued adding ingredients -- all of which are good but the sum of which are not. I honestly can't even remember everything that was in it, it was such a mish-mash.
The room was so loud we could barely converse and the hostess wasn't exactly rude but I think she might consider a career change.
We did have a nice bottle of Kistler, but that and dining with a friend I seldom see were the only bright spots. Thankfully I had another wonderful Quince experience a few nights later, restoring my faith in SF restaurants.
