A chowhound heaven! We ate like kings, never a bad meal. From the cheapest little brasserie to a 10 course gourmet dinner costing $100 a person, it was incredible! The smoked salmon, the creme brulee, the roasted duck, the pastries, the BREAD!!!!! And, of course, the incredible local wines. It was a chowhound heaven. We heartily recommend the following restaurants for good value, great tasting food, and neat atmosphere: The Pigeon Voyager, Charles Barrister's, The Acrobat, Jean Michel's, Juanita Banana (bonus, brightly colored abstract nudes on the walls!) and for the most incredible, orgasmic gourmet dinner where every taste is a new high, Jean Bardet's restaurant at Chateau Belmont. You will be ready to die by the time you finish the last course, a happy person.
Another great thing about Tours---friendly folks, most of whom speak at least a little english. Plus, once a week they have an open hour gourmet market!
