non-tourist dinner in SF?

I and my 10 co-workers are in from out of town this week, and I've been put in charge of finding a place for an entertaining, delicious, relatively cheap meal for us for this Friday night (June 11th). We're pretty work hard play hard in general (i.e. a liquor license or the ability to BYO is definitely a consideration), and of course we love good food. (This seems like the right place to promise that we will not behave like jerks from out of town in your favorite joint!) I was digging around the web, and Nick's Crispy Tacos looks sort of like us, not least because "Ornate crystal chandeliers and piñatas shaped like cartoon characters hang from the ceiling. It's all over-the-top-ridiculous."

I realize questions of decor are not the point; good cheapish food is paramount, but interesting surroundings have made many a good meal great for me.

(We're staying in Union Square and it would be great if we could eat relatively near this area.)
