Every once in a while, the discussion of tortas comes up on this board. We tried a torta place that I just have to let the chowhounds know about. It's called King Torta on Valley Blvd. The area is known as Hillside Village close to El Sereno. Right now, they're in a mini strip mall on the corner of Boca and Valley. They are building a new, larger facility right on the corner. We got there about 9:15 a.m. and they were already busy. Everyone seemed to be ordering the tortas although they had other items on their small menu. We had the torta with carnitas. The bread was excellent and not to thick. The meat was chopped and there was plenty of it. They also put a small amount of beans, avocado, tomato. a small amount of shredded lettuce and chile. It was a thick sandwich but not too thick and full of the meat. It was soooo delicious. Had to let you know. The friend that told me about this place said "if possible, avoid the lunch hour. It gets packed and you'll have a little wait." That's a good sign.
