I went to a press conference at Nathan Philips Square earlier today where Councillor John Fillion along with the Rubino brothers (Rain Restaurant) announced details for the "Toronto Street Treats Fair".
Unfortunately, it's not a weekend-long, or even day-long, event - it will take place on Friday July 13th from 12 noon to 2 PM at Nathan Philips Square. But hey, it's a start.
The Board of Health has also submitted a proposal to the Province that the current "hot dogs & sausages only" legislation be changed to allow year-round sales of other street foods, and they have invited all of the Provincial party leaders as well as the Minister of Health and the opposition health critics to come to the event.
Let's hope it's the first step towards getting better food available from Toronto's street carts soon!
