Although I didn't have any trips planned to New York, I've been enjoying the Mahattan Board for months now. I've got loads of post-it notes all over my desk with great ideas for that one day (soon, I hoped) when I'd be returning to my New York. Imagine my delight when my sister invited me to join her on a quick business trip to New York next week. Though we both used to make annual food pilgrimages to NYC, neither of us have been there in 3 years. We'd like to stay south of Murray Hill. Also, my sister is allergic to gluten so I've discounted Babbo and some of the other recommended Italians.
After considering many posts, I was thinking of...Biltmore Room and Hearth for dinners and Eleven Madison Park or Sushi Sumba for lunch. Are these good/complementary choices? None of these are stuffy/uptight, right?
After seeing your rave reviews, I'm thinking of a solo lunch at NY Noodletown - will I enjoy it on my own or am I better to wait until I can go with a group and share? Also thinking of the Banh Mi place that was recommended (was in Laos last year and I'm still dreaming about the (drool) subs we ate in Vientiane) or perhaps following some of the stops on the Soho food tour below. Maybe a breakfast at 'wichcraft. The rest of the time, I'll just wander and stop when/where the mood strikes.
Thanks in advance for any guidance. Ciao!
