After a disappointing visit to Toro a week after it opened, a friend and I decided to stop in and give it another try for a glass of wine and a small pre-dinner snack. We showed up a few minutes after 6 p.m. on Friday, and while there were no seats at the bar, we were able to get a seat at the long table in the center. It took a while for the waiter to come over, so by that time, we were ready to order a glass of wine as well as a few tapas. The waiter told us that they preferred that we ordered everything at once, as the kitchen took care to stagger the dishes. We said we appreciate that the kitchen staggers them, and then ordered 3 tapas. He glared at us and asked if that was all. Yes (this was a snack). So much for the staggering of dishes, as all three arrived immediately, at the same time, and BEFORE our glasses of wine. The pimientos were good, salt cod fritters were excellent, and the pan con tomate was bland. There were several attempts to clear our dishes before they were empty. Our waiter returned to ask if we wanted anything else, we said no, and he rolled his eyes at us (I'm not kidding). Guess we weren't a big enough check for him to bother being pleasant to us. I actually think I would stop in here for a snack and glass of wine from time to time... but NEVER again if they don't completely turn over the rude staff there. Every reveiw I read is the same as my experience-- good food, AWFUL service.
