Tornado damage (food related) around the Triangle

meatn3 | Apr 17, 2011 07:38 PM

Hopefully everyone came through the tornadoes safely. Our house was skipped over, but several neighbors not so lucky....seemed to hit every 3rd house in our area.

What I've seen:

Food Lion and Southern Flavors at Glascock/Raleigh Blvd is completely blocked off due to damage - looks like a lot of broken glass and area seems to be a staging spot for repair crews. The area is still without power.

Capital Blvd. N. of 440: all food facilities seem to have power again and be operational.

I'm hearing (from friends who live there) that downtown is a mess, but I have no specifics.

Earps Seafood on S. Saunders appears to have lost their roof and sign, but the walls are up.

Just an FYI, most Kroger's sell dry ice! It's about $10 per package. I've put some in my freezer and fridge - hopefully it will keep things in the safe zone until power is restored.

We got lucky and were able to snag a hotel room, nice to retreat to civilization after playing pick-up sticks all day!
