Tony's Clams - Quincy

We drove down to Tony's last night....I hadn't been in a few years and we thought that would be a good alternative (both for time and gas) to driving up to the North Shore. I used to prefer it to the Clam Box...Mixed results. We split a seafood platter. Overall, ok, but I think the oil was getting old...everything was quite a bit darker than it should have been. Not overcooked, though, so probably the oil. Scallops and clams were great. Calamari had a weird fishy taste and the single piece of fish (?thin scrod or maybe sole?) wasn't as fresh as it could have been. Onion rings were awesome...light, not greasy and cut sort of thin but not by any means shoestring. Fries yummy....yea, I know still the frozen kind but with skins on and a bit of that crunchy coating that seemed to work. The rings and fries were not overly dark, so again the oil for the seafood was suspect. Cole slaw sort of bleh.....dressing too thick and clingy, so that the whole thing just *sits* in it and kinda ferments. I like the very thin/sweet dressing that drips through, and keeps the cabbage crunchy/sweet.

All in all, about a 6.5. I don't think we'll go out of our way to return, but it would be ok in a pinch, if we were down that way.
