Ton Kiang style dim sum?

ginger_sling | Aug 11, 2004 04:03 PM

I'm looking for really, really great dim sum, hopefully in OC (I'm in Costa Mesa) but LA is fine too. Less on the traditional side, more on the lighter (not as heavy/greasy) side. If anyone has been to Ton Kiang in SF, out on Geary in the avenues, that's what I'm talking about. Not that I don't love the traditional variety too, but Ton Kiang's har gow are so light they practically float. And oh those shrimp and chive dumplings...

Anyway, even if there is nothing of that sort around here, suggestions for great dim sum of any type (cheap and/or more upscale) would be super appreciated. I'm a relatively recent transplant to Southern CA, and I have a friend here who has never ever had dim sum. I'd hate for him to have to live a second longer without the experience!

thanks!
