Oonth, two places I tried in Tokyo that I thought were much better than Yasuda in NYC were Kozasa Sushi in Ginza, Chuo-ku and Araki in Nakamachi, Setagaya-ku. I had the good fortune of going with my boss, who grew up in Tokyo, and who ordered for all of us. I've heard it can affect your experience a great deal if you do not speak Japanese and do not go with anyone who speaks it.
The caveat, of course, is that I'm not all that knowledgeable about the restaurant scene in Tokyo since mostly, I just follow people around and eat what they order for me. (It's difficult for me to navigate, alone, since I know approximately one phrase in Japanese: "Feed me, please!" :). There's a frequent traveller to Tokyo called FourSeasons who probably has far better recs than I do, not to mention Silverjay and all the other frequent contributors to the Tokyo board.
In any case, good luck and good eats! I'd love to read about places you've found for my next trip.
