While my parents were visiting last month, we went shopping at the First Korean Market on Geary, and then had an early dinner at the tofu place.
I thought it was interesting that you could order your tofu soup spicy, medium, mild, and not hot. My mom ordered the not hot version and the broth was pale yellow - no chilis or chili oil in sight.
What was even more interesting was the cold soup they brought us. It had some pickled vegetables in it, and the broth was slightly sour and tasted like dilute pickle juices. Can someone tell me more about this soup? -what's it called, where else can you find it, what it's made from. I guessed that they serve this cold soup to complement the hot one that we ordered?
