Tofu Chips from Baker’s Village (Santa Clara)

Last night we took a quick peek at Baker’s Village next to where we were headed to dinner. It appears to be a western-style Korean bakery. William picked up a bag of tofu chips. I bought some madeleines and two other types of madeleine-like small cakes. After dinner, William opened his so that I could try them. Fried with some bubbles and a light airy texture, we both liked them. They tasted vaguely of tofu and peanut oil and had some black specks (maybe black sesame) that I couldn’t make out in the dark. The chips sort of reminded me of papadams except thicker with a similarly blank flavor. William thought they'd be better with some kind of chutney or dip.

Later at home, I didn’t have as good luck with the little butter cakes. On the firm side and not that tender, plus having some artificial off-flavors. I’d buy the tofu chips again, but not these pastries.

What else do folks like here?
