I mentioned in my last review i was going to try table 34 - unfortunately, closed on monday and that was the only evening available for my SO so next in line - Todd's...when we drove up and made me think....is this this Rosemary's east ?? ( then again...maybe Rosemary's is Todd's West ) As in Rosemary's, I thought it was an unusual location...

nice, simple space, no prie fixe or tasting menu options - the menu had an appetizer, salad and main entree sections with the dessert menu coming later. immediately noticed that the prices were much lower than rosemary's including the wines by the glass. had a sauvignin blanc to start - i'm partial to marlborough county wines - they had 2 to choose from - went with...damn...the name escapes me...maybe monkey in the name...you'd think i could remember that ! $7/glass...decent...not as citrus-y as i was hoping.
the bread was nice - buttery, salty, galicky coating...good start

the appetizers -
SO went with the mediterranean seafood chowder - we both agreed ....very average - if someone told me they cracked open a can of campbells select in the kitchen, i would believe it ! i think it cost $7

I had the malaysian shrimp - nice...small portion but flavorful, citrus infused shrimp, not sure what was with the belini/pancakes...the cucumber was freshing. Cost $10...i think the bbq shrimp at rosemary's tasted better and you got more bang for your buck !

Main Entree's
SO went with Monkfish tian w/ mashed potatoes....decent - potatoes ...packed with butter...i think it also had truffle oil...i forgot to ask if it did....reasonably priced at $21

I went with the kobe braised short ribs - w/ fried onions and mashed taters...it was a toss up ..the daily special was veal osso bucco...that was tempting...anyways, the ribs were french bistro all the way...as you can see by the pic...a ton of fried onions...i liked them...though i had to push a big pile over to get to the short ribs - excellent braised ribs !! the juicies blended well with the rich buttery potatoes...very filling - a great deal at $22 or $24.

we were too full to try the desserts - did peek at the dessert menu...everything at $5...reasonably priced...standard stuff - ice creams, sorbets, flourless chocolate cake, etc
overall, i liked todd's ....i have to give a slight nod to rosemary's for the overall quality, but todd's might win out on value.
