I happened to be spending the night at the Motel 6 near London Ohio, just west of Columbus. First thing I did was check the internet for local pizza joints and decided on Todd's in nearby W. Jefferson. Family-owned and in business since 1965. From their website it looked like the kind of no-frills joint that just might have some great pizza.
Yes, the place was rather plain and dated-looking. It was obvious that only locals know of the place but we were greeted warmly. Fancy-beer lovers need not apply (drafts are Bud Light and Michelob Ultra), but you do get a free pitcher of "pop" when you order a large pizza. So my son and I got a large 1/2 pepperoni pizza.
I have some experience with the cracker-style crust although it isn't my favorite form of pizza. But I must say this pie was excellent and was easily the best of the style that I've had. The crust was perfect--nice and crispy without being overly thin and fragile. It supported nicely the tasty cheese blend and the excellent sauce. The pepperoni was small diameter and was unabashedly and unapologetically cupped. Outstanding.
If anyone finds themselves on I-70 just west of Columbus I highly recommend the 5 minute detour to Todd's. It's been there almost 50 years for a reason.
