Todai (the Seattle one)

Dixie Pigs | Feb 5, 200401:42 PM     2

This new Todai is on the top floor of Pacific Place. The upscale shopping center has gotten low scale with its restaurant choices. But I guess they can't help it that expensive places couldn't survive there. The restaurant looks nice with the tall ceiling and huge windows. It is very soothing. Stars, a failed expensive pretension, used to occupy the space.

As for the food, here goes: Love the salmon, eel nigiri. The slabs of fish are big and fresh. Love the mussels topped with cheese. Love that they have someone to make crepes fresh for dessert, although the ingredients are from cans. Other items are all over the scale, some bad, some average, some pretty good.

Now that Nikko's is gone, this place will be where I am going when I want to eat A LOT of sushi. If you can look past sushi rice falling apart and a few bad items, you will be very happy with this $13 buffet. Dinner is $23 and that is too much for this type of food. I hope it survives but the rent must be through the roof.
